Description

Softens your water. Requires 10" Jumbo Housing

Fits 10 inch Jumbo Filter Housings.

This 10-inch Jumbo Cartridge utilizes cation exchange to prevent scale build-up in water when heated or cooled.

Please note that these cartridges are designed for low-flow applications (point-of-use or small whole-house systems). Running higher than this can cause channeling and reduce softening efficiency. We recommend that the flowrate does not exceed 10 LPM

It can be paired with activated carbon cartridges to enhance taste and filter out chemicals. With a cation reduction rating of 103,000 mg, it can be regenerated using salt or replaced once it reaches capacity. To determine the cartridge's lifespan in liters, divide 103,000 by the known hardness. in mg/l.

i.e. if the Hardness Reading in your water is 150, then 103,000 / 150 = 686 litres

Please Note that it does not remove chlorine, so it should be used alongside a carbon cartridge if chlorine removal is desired.

For optimal performance and longer lifespan, use a carbon cartridge before the softening resin.

Regeneration of Media via soak method:

What you need:

  • Salt - 360g
  • 3 litres of Softened Water
  • Large Heavy Duty Plastic Bag
  • Bucket
  1. Prepare Saturated Brine - Dissolve 360 g of salt (NaCl) in about 1.4 Litres of the softened water to make a saturated brine (~26% NaCl).  Stir until fully dissolved.
  2. Remove Cartridge from Housing - Take the cartridge out of its housing.
  3. Remove the Cap (Top) from the Cartridge to expose the media. Put the Heavy Duty Plastic Bag into the bucket and tip the media into the bag. Rinse the inside of the Cartridge with a bit of the Brine, and tip into Bag
  4. Pour the remaining Brine into the Plastic Bag. Ensure brine is fully submerged.
  5. Let it soak for 60 minutes.
  6. After 60 mins, drain the Brine out of the plastic bag.
  7. Pour the remaining 1.6 litres of Softened water into the Bag to rinse, and drain.
  8. Put the Media Back into the Cartridge and Put the Cap back on.
  9. Put the Cartridge back into the Filter Housing, and once sealed, run water through it for 1-2 minutes minute to rinse residual brine.
