Nitrate Specific Cartridge — Reduce Nitrate Levels in Drinking Water
The NC Series Nitrate Reduction Cartridges use Jacobi Resinex NR-1, a nitrate-selective strong-base anion exchange resin specifically designed for the removal of nitrate from drinking water.
Resinex NR-1 provides high nitrate selectivity, including in water containing sulphate, making these cartridges well suited to bore water, rural water supplies and other drinking-water applications where elevated nitrate levels are present.
Unlike disposable nitrate cartridges, the NR-1 media is regenerable using a salt (sodium chloride) solution, allowing the cartridge to be reused over multiple treatment cycles.

Important: Nitrate may be reported on water test results as either Nitrate-N (NO₃-N) or Nitrate (NO₃). Always use the matching capacity column when calculating expected cartridge life.
How to Calculate Treatment Capacity
To estimate the volume of water that can be treated before regeneration:
Cartridge capacity (mg) ÷ nitrate concentration in the water (mg/L) = approximate litres treated
For example, if an NC10 cartridge is treating water containing 5.7 mg/L Nitrate-N:
7,500 mg ÷ 5.7 mg/L = approximately 1,315 litres
If your laboratory report gives nitrate as NO₃, use the NO₃ capacity column instead.
Actual treatment capacity can vary depending on water chemistry, flow rate, competing ions and the required treated-water nitrate level.

Regenerable Media
One of the major advantages of Resinex NR-1 is that the media can be regenerated rather than discarded when its nitrate capacity has been exhausted.
Jacobi recommends regeneration using a 5–10% sodium chloride (salt) solution, allowing sufficient contact time for the nitrate ions captured by the resin to be displaced by chloride ions.
After regeneration, the cartridge must be thoroughly rinsed with clean water before being returned to drinking-water service.
The cartridge can then be reused for further nitrate-reduction cycles.
